The Karnataka Premier League 2015 is underway, and history has been made by a 15-year-old boy. Nikin Jose got the chance to play in his debut game at the Karnataka Premier League cricket tournament on the last day of the league phase.
The Mysuru teenager played for the home team, Mysuru Warriors at the Srikantadatta Narasimha Raja Wadiyar cricket grounds. His team was set to play against the Rockstars with the hopes of getting a spot in the play-offs.
SJ Nikin Jose played some outstanding cricket, claiming six wickets for the Mysuru Warriors. Not only has Jose made history by being the youngest player ever to have featured in a Karnataka Premier League game, he also made history with his top quality bowling.
The Mysuru Warriors beat the Rockstars by a total of 75 runs, with much of the credit going to Jose’s off-spins. Out of his 20 balls in the spell, he bowled 14 dot balls. Jose has bowled the best figures in the Karnataka Premier League with his 6/11 in 3.2 overs.
The Mysuru Warriors bought Jose for Rs 10,000 at the player auction. Jose has been known to bring quality to the bat, but last night showed that his strengths clearly extend to bowling.
The 15-year-old has already captained the Karnataka Under-16 side earlier this year when the team played in the Vijay Merchant Trophy. He also plays for Jawahar Sports Club in Bengaluru. In December last year, Jose was selected to play in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy One-Day tournament at the end of the year in the Under-19 team.
The young cricket star was awarded the Man of the Match trophy after he made history last night. It is expected that Jose will go far in the cricket world.
