The Board of Control for Cricket in India does made the decision that the cricketers who are playing in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 are not allowed to have their wives or their girlfriends with them on the tour.
The Indian cricket team had a good start to the tour, beating the Pakistan team, its old rivals. While the team did a good job of the match, they had to do so without having their significant others watching. The team has requested that their wives and girlfriends be allowed to come and join them at the World Cup. The Board of Control for Cricket in India stood firm and said that they would not allow it.
The message that came back to the disappointed players was that if they reach the quarter finals, the BCCI may reconsider their decision, and allow spouses and girlfriends to come and join the players in Australia.
The players are away for a long time, with the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 taking place over a month and a half. The players have already been in Australia for a long three months. In the past few months, the Indian cricket team has played a Test Series against the Australian cricket team, and also participated in the tri-series.
The quarter finals are set to begin on 18th March 2015, and if all goes according to players’ plan, the Indian team’s wives and girlfriends will be there to watch. The wait for the quarter finals is nearly another month of monotony and waiting for the Indian team.
While the BCCI has not made any promises that they will change the decision that was made, the players will certainly have an added incentive to play hard and play well.
