The South African all-rounder cricketer, Jean-Paul Duminy, had been set to play for the Delhi Daredevils team in the VIVO Indian Premier League’s 10th edition. The team has announced that JP Duminy will not be playing this year.
The star cricketer has had to withdraw from the upcoming IPL for personal reasons. He has played with the Delhi Daredevils regularly since 2014, and led the team in the 2015 Indian Premier League.
A clearly disappointed Duminy said: “It has been a very difficult decision for me to make, but it was purely for personal reasons. I’m grateful for the support and understanding from the franchise. It has been an absolute privilege to have played for and led a talented mix of players. I certainly hope to play a part for the franchise in the near future.”
Hemant Dua, the Chief Executive of the Delhi Daredevils, commented: “We respect JP’s decision. We are naturally very disappointed to not have JP in our midst this year, but as a franchise we clearly understand his position. At this stage, we can only confirm that we will look for a replacement at an appropriate time.”
At this time, it is not known who Duminy’s replacement will be.
Rising Pune Supergiants Replace Mitchell Marsh
There have been other changes in for the upcoming IPL. The Rising Pune Supergiants have had to replace Mitchell Marsh. The all-rounder will be unable to play in the upcoming VIVO IPL because of a shoulder injury.
Marsh will be replaced by Imran Tahir. Tahir is a South African leg-spinner who played on the Delhi Daredevils team in the Indian Premier League in 2016. Tahir was still available after the IPL auction, and had been in the Registered Available Player Pool. The IPL regulations allow for the replacement player to be picked from the remaining pool of players who were not bought during the IPL player auction.
