The sixth IPL is going strong with some great cricket viewing. In the game between the Sun Risers Hyderabad and the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the game went into the Super Over. This is the first time that a game has gone into the Super Over in this sixth edition of the IPL.
The match took place yesterday, with the two teams rearing to go. Both teams began the match with confidence after each team had won their games in the first round of the Indian Premier League. Hyderabad had beaten the Pune Warriors by 22 runs, and the Bangalore team squeaked through, beating the Mumbai Indians by two runs.
Royal Challengers Bangalore had made 15 runs in the Super Over, and were beaten when the game ended on a six, taking Hyderabad to 21 runs. Thisara Perera and Cameron White made 20 runs in the Super Over. Included in this were two outstanding sixes from White. The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium hosted many captivated fans as the Sun Risers Hyderabad beat the Royal Challengers Bangalore with five runs.
The game was fairly low-scoring, even though the captains of both the teams had felt that it was a batsman-friendly wicket. The Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and elected to bat. While the Royal Challengers Bangalore were first up to bat with this supposedly batsman-friendly wicket, they only managed to get 130 for 8. When the Sun Risers Hyderabad batted, they managed to tie the score, which then took the match into the Super Over.
Royal Challengers Bangalore ended with 130/8 in 20 overs, while the Sun Risers Hyderabad ended with 130/7 in 20 overs. Hanuma Vihari (44*) from the Sun Risers Hyderabad, was named the Man of the Match. Hanuma Vihari managed to get 44 runs in 46 balls.
