Australia A has won the opening match of the Tri-Series in India. The team beat South Africa A by nine wickets, with 19 unplayed overs. The South African team won the toss and chose to bat first.
The team was playing decently with 73 runs shared between Dean Elgar and Reeza Hendriks during the first 15 overs. None of the other partnerships even reached 30 runs during the match. After the Elgar – Reeza partnership, the batters were bowled out fairly quickly, with the team ending on 171.
While the South African team may need some time to deal with the changeover from a cold and wintry South Africa to the heat of India, South Africa A has now got a heavy negative run rate that will make it difficult for the team to reach the final.
On the other hand, the Australian team has begun with an advantage in that the team has just finished a two-match Test series against India, having given the team plenty of time to acclimate.
India’s first match of the Tri-Series will be played against Australia on Friday, and India and South Africa will play against each other on Sunday.
The India A team is led by Unmukt Chand, the team’s captain, and Karun Nair, the vice-captain. The other team members are Mayank Agarwal, Axar Patel, Mandeep Singh, Manish Pandey, Rush Kalaria, Kedar Jadhav, Karn Sharma, Sanju Samson, Sandeep Sharma, Parveez Rasool, Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Rishi Dhawan, and Dhawal Kulkarni.
The Australian A team is captained by Usman Khawaja, and the South African A team is captained by Dean Elgar.
