Two Indian Players Qualify for Indian Open Snooker

The Indian Open Snooker tournament will be taking place in New Delhi from the 14th October until the 18th October 2013. This past week, two top Indian players qualified for the Indian Open 2013. The two players are Pankaj Advani, and Aditya Mehta.

These two professional snooker players will be playing in the tournament against another 62 top pro snooker players from around the world. In order to qualify, Panjak Advani beat Matthew Selt 4 – Nil. The games were played as the best out of seven games.

The first game was somewhat tense for Advani, as Selt got a break of 53. He then won the first frame with the help of a break of 62. The eight time snooker World Champion won the game with scores of 62 (62) – 53 (53). The second game was won with 74 – 46, and the third was taken with 70 (54) – 01. The final game was played, with a score of 72 – 00.

Aditya Mehta beat Xiao Guondong, from China, 4 – 2. Mehta won the first frame with 61 -17 and the seond with 73 – 36. He then had a very impressive 117 – 09. The third game began with a century break for Aditya. The fourth game went to Guondong, with 89 (68) – 01. The game after also went to Guondong, who also made an impressive break of 105. Mehta pulled himself back into the lead and won the final game with 60 – 25.

The Indian Open Snooker tournament will have other Indian players in the tournament too. These players are wildcards that will be allowed to play in the ranking event. The qualifying rounds for these players will be played in New Delhi, starting on 22nd August, and in Bangalore, starting on 1st September.
