West Indies Beat India in ICC World Twenty20 Semi Finals

2016 ICC World Twenty20India had hoped to win the World Twenty20 on their home soil, and although they put up a good fight, they will not be going on to the final.

In what was a thrilling match between the hosts, India, and the West Indies cricket teams ended with the Windies knocking India out of the ICC World Twenty20 tournament. The final results of the match that took place at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai were India with 192/2 (20), and the West Indies winning by seven wickets with 196/3 (19.4).

The West Indies simply had an excellent game with Lendl Simmons scoring 82 off 51 balls. Simmons hit five sixes, and seven fours to reach his total. Another notable West Indies player was Johnson Charles who reach 52 runs, which included two sixes and seven fours.

Simmons, who was ultimately devastating for the Indian team, had come on as a late replacement for Andre Fletcher, who had sustained an injury. Simmons was announced as the Man of the Match.

Despite India’s loss, Virat Kohli once again showed his excellence at the bat. Kohli hit one six and 11 fours. He achieved 89 off of 47 balls, helping to take India to their 192/2 total.

When the game went into the last over, the West Indies needed eight more runs in six balls to win. Andre Russell was at the bat at the end of the match, having hit a six and a four, helping to take the West Indies cricket team to a win.

England won their semi final match against New Zealand to take them to the finals. Interestingly, England also won their semi final match by seven wickets earlier this week. The final match of the tournament will take place between England and the West Indies at the Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata on Sunday.
