Less than a week into the ICC Cricket World Cup, we will take a look at the story so far. We’ll also list and explore all the updated World Cup betting odds at the early stage of this tournament that runs from May 30 to July 14 in the U.K.

There has been much excitement for Indian cricket bettors and fans alike as their team won its first match in the ICC Cricket World Cup. The teams met at Hampshire’s Rose Bowl Cricket Ground, also known as The Ageas Bowl in Southampton, England. India may have had a slow start in the warm-up games, but this was no warm-up, and India started their campaign with a resounding win.

The India vs South Africa match ended with 230/4 in 47.3 overs for India, with 227/9 for South Africa. India won the match by six wickets when there were still 15 balls left for play.

Virat Kohli, the team captain, commended Rohit Sharma for his batting, and Jasprit Bumrah for his bowling. Bumrah removed both of South Africa’s openers in a five-over spell.

Man of the Match

South Africa quickly dismissed Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli. However, Rohit Sharma stuck around, making a century. Sharma had a couple of good stands with KL Rahul and MS Dhoni, reaching a massive 122 runs. Sharma ended the match on 122 not out. His total included 13 fours and two sixes. Hardik Pandya also saw some batting time, ending on 15 not out.

Rohit Sharma definitely deserved the Man of the Match award. His outstanding performance helped take India to their first match win in this year’s World Cup. Although this was not a typical Sharma knock, he took his time, and made sure to get the runs.

Group Stage Standings

All teams have now played between one and three matches in the ICC World Cup. New Zealand currently tops the points table with four points after winning both its matches. Since it is still early days, and some teams have only played one match, we can expect the sportsbooks to make many changes over the next week.

The following teams all have two points at this time:

South Africa is in trouble after having lost their first three matches. Meanwhile, Afghanistan has lost both of its matches.
