Safe ‘Man of the Match’ Bets During World Cup 2019 (Part 1)
The 2019 ICC World Cup is in full progress as 10 teams do battle for a month and a half to determine who will walk away as World Cup champions. Apart from World Cup betting on the outright winner, bookmakers have a number of different bets available that makes things interesting for cricket bettors. One of those is the World Cup ‘Man of the Match’ for each game.
Top Tips For World Cup Man of the Match
For World Cup Man of the Match, sportsbooks usually have a minimum of four options with two from each team. It can be quite challenging to pick the World Cup Man of the Match contender in advance. After all, you cannot predict how a game is going to turn out.
However, we decided to do a two part series and put together a list of two top players from each team. This based on the players’ track record and experience. If you are eager to place a World Cup Man of the Match bet, then do keep these players in mind!
England are the favourites to win the World Cup with Betrally giving them odds of 2.75. The England side is packed with a bunch of match winners who can change the outcome of the game on their own. The two players we want you to watch out for are:
– Jason Roy
Jason Roy has been in great form so far. He starting off with a half century against South Africa, but failed in the second match against Pakistan, before coming back with a magnificent 153 against Bangladesh that won him the man of the match award. Roy could be the difference in this World Cup.
– Ben Stokes
Ben Stokes is always a good bet to place your money on as he can deliver with both bat and ball. He received the man of the match award in England’s opening game against South Africa. In total, he scored 89 with the bat, and claimed 2 wickets with the ball.
South Africa have had a terrible start to their World Cup and currently have odds of 13/2 on winning. They will now desperately be looking to change things around. Moreover, they will have to look to their big match players to put their hands up and perform. The two key players for South Africa are:
– KG Rabada
K G Rabada has to carry a weakened bowling lineup and will certainly be feeling the pressure. However, KG is a big match player who is a genuine wicket taker. Needless to say, he will desperately want to do well for the Proteas.
– Quinton de Kock
The Proteas batting line up has struggled in England, and the only batsman that has looked threatening is Quinton de Kock. He started out well scoring 68 in the game against England, but was dismissed cheaply against India. His performance at the top of the order could determine how much South Africa score each game!
If there is one team that is similar to England in terms of being packed with match-winners, it will have to be the West Indies. They have a bunch of all-rounders and power hitters that have that X factor to transform the game in just a couple of overs. If you are a betting man, then you might want to put some cash down on these two players:
– Dre Russell
One of the premier all-rounders in the shorter format of the game, Dre Russell is one of the biggest hitters of the cricket ball. He has been in great form in the 2019 IPL and is deadly at the end of an innings. He also has the ability to pick up wickets as he bowls a heavy ball. While Russell is a safe bet for a man of the match award, he has been battling a knee injury. So before you make your bet, double check to see if he is playing!
– Chris Gayle
This will be the last World Cup for the Universe Boss and he will want to sign off in style. Chris Gayle has looked destructive at the top of the order and is keen on doing well for his team.
That’s it for now! However, do check out Part 2 of our series which will look at other potential man of the match contenders at the 2019 ICC World Cup!
