Earlier this week, there was an IPL betting racket that was busted. There was also a card gambling racket which was raided too. One police task force arrested two people and in another raid, three people were arrested.
There were two people who were working together who were taking bets on the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Rajasthan Royals match that was taking place in Ahmedabad. The duo, Gopal Bung and Damodhar Das Bung, were located at a house in Begum Bazaar. The police did the raid after receiving a tip-off that wagering was taking place in that location.
In the raid, there were several mobile phones that were seized, Rs 32,700 in cash, and two DTH boxes. Both Gopal Bung and Damodhar Das Bung were handed over to the Afzalgunj police station, along with the items that were seized during the raid.
The gambling card raid went down at a house at Mallepally. There were three people who were arrested during this raid. The three people were Vijay, Yadaiah, and D Nareshwar. In this gambling raid, where three-card gambling was taking place, there were also a number of items that were seized at the location. The items that were seized during the raid were cards, four cell phones, and also Rs 57,500 in cash. The three who were arrested by the special police task force were handed over to the Habeeb Nagar police station for further investigation.
There was also a separate incident of bribery that took place recently, in which senior inspector Jaywant Mane was caught in the act of accepting a bribe. The police inspector was caught while he accepted a bribe for the amount of Rs 50,000 from those who were caught in illegal gambling. The man who had been asked to give the bribe decided that he did not want to pay the bribe in order to avoid arrest, and he lodged a complaint with the police. When Mane’s personal bag was checked, there was more than Rs 4.90 lakh found there by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB).
