Australia v India: Third ODI Odds and Betting Preview

By Matt Harris on January 16, 2019

A 39th ODI century from Virat Kohli and a brilliant display from the ‘finisher’, MS Dhoni, ensured that India chased down a testing target of 299 to win the second game in Adelaide. That six wicket win, secured in the final over, means that we now have a decider on our hands. The teams now head to Melbourne for Friday’s final One Day International with the scoreline level at 1-1. But who do the Australia v India cricket odds favour?

What are the Australia v India cricket odds?

If you are taking a Satta on this match, India’s win on Tuesday cements their position as favourites. You can now claim Kohli’s men at odds of 1.55 with Betway. There is also a price of 2.25 on an Australian victory, but who will edge it in Melbourne?

Even in defeat, Australia were competitive down in Adelaide. While the market could be a lot closer, momentum can be a key factor as India showed during the test series here. In a one-off game they can be pushed. Having settled since the squad issues over Rahul and Pandya, however, we expect a more dominant performance from the tourists.

Match Odds Summary: Australia: 2.25, India 1.55 (Betway – Editor’s Pick)

What are the Australia v India cricket odds for top batsman?

Virat Kohli seemed the most obvious bet to top score in Adelaide. However, our only losing tip from that game came in India’s top batsman market. Kohli was due a big contribution and while hindsight is always perfect, a match winning contribution from the skipper seemed on the cards.

For Friday’s game in Melbourne, Kohli starts as favourite to score most Indian runs once again and he can be picked up at 2.95 with Betrally. Rohit Sharma follows at 3.70, before we reach Shikhar Dhawan at 4.50.

Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik were the finishers in Adelaide and you could claim them at 8.50 and 13.00, respectively. Meanwhile, Ambati Rayudu may be another option at 7.50.

For Australia, Shaun Marsh may have a reputation as a dour batter, but he looks more of a force at One Day level. After his brilliant century on Tuesday, Marsh is on offer at 4.50 to top score for the Aussies. That makes him joint favourite with Aaron Finch, who is also at 4.50.

Glenn Maxwell made useful runs down the order and the ‘Big Show’ can be claimed at a tempting 7.50. Other options for Australia include Usman Khawaja at 5.00, and Alex Carey at 5.50. In the meantime, Marcus Stoinis can be found at 8.75.

Our punt on Shikhar Dhawan fell short on Tuesday. As the left hander is starting to lack consistency, we’ll leave him alone for now. Kohli makes an obvious case. Nevertheless, we’re switching back to Rohit Sharma who continues to be devastating in this format. Furthermore, he carries a far more interesting price.

Top Batsman Odds Summary: Australia: Shaun Marsh 4.50, Finch 4.50, Khawaja 5.00, Carey 5.50, Maxwell 7.50, Stoinis 8.75.

India: Kohli 2.95, Rohit Sharma 3.70 (Betrally – Editor’s Pick), Dhawan 4.50, Rayudu 7.50, Dhoni 8.50, Karthik 13.00.

What are the Australia v India cricket odds for match sixes?

We saw two individual tons in the game at Sydney. Consequently, Friday’s decider sees odds of 1.57 on any player from either side passing three figures in Melbourne. That may look a safe bet, but we’re staying with the market that gave us a profit in Sydney.

There was some real value in backing India to score most sixes at the SCG and they delivered on it. Their price for Melbourne has dropped to 2.05, but we’ll finish off this entertaining tour with another Satta on this market and look for a nice overall profit from Friday’s final ODI.

Most Sixes Odds Summary: Australia 2.05, India 2.05 (Betrally – Editor’s Pick), The Tie 6.00
