BCCI President Announces India vs. Sri Lanka ODI and T20 Series In July
The BCCI might be regretting its decision to hold the 2021 IPL in India after they were forced to pull the plug on the IPL due to a massive spike in COVID-19 cases all over India along with the fact that their IPL bubble was breached.
The BCCI staged a success IPL in 2020 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and had the option of hosting IPL 2021 in the UAE again. However, with the COVID-19 situation appearing to be under control in India in early 2021, the BCCI took the chance and hosted the IPL in India.
With the IPL postponed indefinitely and no cricketing action taking place in May, cricket fans want to know when will get to see the Indian team in action again.
Sourav Ganguly Confirms Tour To Sri Lanka
BCCI President Sourav Ganguly confirmed over the weekend that India’s next tour will be an overseas tour to Sri Lanka. The tour will take place in July and consist of 3 ODIs and 5 T20 games. The exact dates for this tour are yet to be finalized but it will be a quick tour of back to back games.
We must point out to fans that India will head to England in June to play the World Test Championship final against New Zealand. This one off test is scheduled to take place between June 18 to 22 in Southampton and the winner will be the inaugural World Test Champions.
This test team will then stay on in England for over a month as they prepare for a long overseas tour against England. Due to this schedule, it appears that the BCCI will send a very different ODI and T20 team to Sri Lanka as many of the top players including captain Virat Kohli and vice-captain Rohit Sharma will be in England.
The betting odds for the World Test Championship will be released towards the end of May.If you are keen on betting on the World Test Championship or the India vs. Sri Lanka series, go ahead and register at any of the below sports betting sites.
Great Chance For Young Talent To Shine
Ganguly said that the tour to Sri Lanka will require Indian players to go through a 14 day quarantine process. This means that even though the actual tour will take place within a 20 day period, the Indian team will end up staying in Sri Lanka for close to a month due to the quarantine requirements.
The tour to Sri Lanka is a great chance for a number of young players to grab their opportunity and make a name for themselves. Even though India will not field its best players in this tour to Sri Lanka, India has enough talent and bench strength to beat Sri Lanka at home in both the T20 and ODI format.
However, it will definitely turn out to be a tough contest and make the betting odds very interesting. The betting odds for the India vs. Sri Lanka series will be released once India announces the squad to Sri Lanka.
Players To Watch Out For
Some of the players that should be selected for the tour to Sri Lanka include Devdutt Padikkal who opens for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), S Yadav and I Kishan who play for the Mumbai Indians, Sanju Samson who captains the Rajasthan Royals, Prasidh Krishna from the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and V Chakravarthy from the Punjab Kings.
The BCCI might also include a few experienced players in the squad provided they are fit. Some of these players could include S Dhawan, B Kumar, K Pandya and K Yadav.
