The Chennai Super Kings have beaten Sunrisers Hyderabad by a whopping eight wickets. The final result saw Sunrisers Hyderabad end with 178/6 in 20 overs. Chennai Super Kings reached their win with 181/2 in 18.3 overs.
Shane Watson’s Century
Shane Watson, batting for Chennai Super Kings, was certainly the star of the show. The batsman was well past reaching a century when the team won. Watson ended the match on 117 not out off of 57 balls. Ambati Rayudu had made 16 runs not out off of 19 balls, before the match was won.
Suresh Raina contributes 32 runs and Faf du Plessis only managed to add 10 runs to the team’s total.
While MS Dhoni made it to the Final match, he did not get his turn at the bat because Watson had already done it all.
It came as no surprise that Shane Watson was awarded the title of Man of the Match.
MS Dhoni Comments
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the Chennai Super Kings captain, said: “I think by the time you reach the Finals everyone knows what they need to do. If someone is finding it difficult, there is no reason that someone coming in after won’t also find it difficult. I thought it was a very good batting effort. At the start we may have thought we needed to get going, but we knew we had the fire power at the back end of the innings to catch up. “
Dhoni said that the team would be going to Chennai to meet fans and others who have a close connection to the Chennai Super Kings.
Kane Williamson, the Sunrisers Hyderabad captain, had the following to say: “Today it wasn’t to be, and CSK are deserving winners. It was a great season for us and the side fought hard. It is a shame not to get over the line but there are a lot of positives.”
