David Miller, the South African cricket player, has been appointed as the captain for the Kings XI Punjab team for the Indian Premier League 2016. As a batsman, the new Kings XI Punjab team skipper is known as Killer Miller.
The Kings XI Punjab promoters commented on the new appointment: “David Miller is one of the most talented and explosive players in contemporary cricket and we are so pleased that he has been an integral part of the team. We have complete faith in his capabilities and leadership skills and look forward to a successful season.”
Miller responded to his appointment as follows: “I am honoured to lead the Kings XI Punjab squad this year. I would like to thank the franchise: promoters, management and all the team members for the confidence they have in me. Kings XI have assembled an exciting squad with a good mixture of youth and experience and I am really looking forward to the opportunity that lies ahead.”
The team’s head coach, Sanjay Bangar, commented: “I have watched David grow as a player. He has displayed outstanding batting abilities and a cool temperament in many high-pressure situations. I am confident in his potential to lead the boys this season.”
Miller has been connected to the Kings XI Punjab IPL team since 2011.
Sehwag to Mentor Kings XI Punjab
Earlier, it was announced that Najafgarh Virender Sehwag will be a mentor for the Kings XI Punjab this year’s IPL Season 9. He will be working closely with Sanjay Bangar in order to help players to reach their potentials, and playing their best games. Sehwag has been part of the squad for the past two seasons, and therefore knows the team and players well.
Bangar commented on Sehwag’s appointement as team mentor: “I am sure that Sehwag will prove to be a great mentor and his presence will be extremely appreciated by the squad.”
