Although the Indian cricket team had hoped to make it a clean sweep and beat the England cricket team in the Twenty20 International, this was not to be. The first day of this two day Twenty20 International was won by the Indian team, and the next, and final, day, was won by the England team, resulting in a draw for these two cricket teams.
The England team knew that it could no longer win this two day Twenty20, however, there was still a chance to make it even, and allows the English players to return home for the holiday season with some pride. There were those that were concerned that it was too late for England to redeem itself, however, Eoin Morgan, the team’s temporary stand-in captain managed to save the day.
Morgan was 49 not out, and it seemed as if the game was lost. He still needed three runs to win, and had one final ball that was going to be coming his way from India’s bowler, Ashok Dinda. Morgan, who was also named Man of the Match, managed to get this victory when he struck a perfect hit, with the result that each of the teams had won one game in the two day Twenty20 International cricket match.
While the England cricket team went home for the Christmas and New Year celebrations with a draw, and not entirely defeated, the India cricket team were somewhat disappointed, and even more so because until the very end of the match, it had seemed that they were going to come through as winners.
This week, India is meeting the Pakistan cricket team in a series of five matches that will be played around India. There has been much excitement and anticipation from both the Indian and Pakistan fans. In the first match, Pakistan had won the toss and chose to bowl first. The results of the first of the five matches ended with Pakistan beating India.
