India Beats Australia in 1st ODI Match

The Indian cricket team has taken the lead in the series against Australia with a win in the first One Day International match. The game is the first of five ODIs that are scheduled between now and 1st October 2017. The ODIs will be followed by three T20I matches.

India won by 26 runs with a final score of 281/7 in 50 overs with Australia ending on 137/9 in 21 overs.

Play Began After the Rain

Rain almost stopped play, however, it stopped with enough time for the game to go on. Australia began on a good note, happy with the performance of their fast bowlers. While it appeared that the revised target was going to favour Australia, India’s Pandya and Bumrah made quick work of the Australian team’s top order. An important moment took place when Kuldeep removed Warner from the game.

Hardik Pandya was named as the Man of the Match. He was given the award for his all-round performance in the match.

MS Dhoni reached another milestone with his 100th half century in an ODI.

Virat Kohli Comments

The Indian team’s skipper, Virat Kohli, had the following to say: “This is a very pleasing win. MS and Hardik and Kedar first batted well. Today was an example, and Sri Lanka was an example of how good they are (as spinners).”
Kohli commented on Hardik’s game: “We and team management believe in him more than he believes in himself. His innings was game-changing and we are lucky to have him.”

The Australian team captain, Steve Smith, noted that although they had been in a good position at the start, the top playing of MS and Hardik made a big difference.”
