India Beats Australia in Four-Test Series

India has beaten Australia by eight wickets in the final match of the four-Test series that took place in Dharmasala this week. The win took place on Day 4 of the Test. The Indian cricket team has won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after completing the final Test match of the series.

In the 1st innings, Australia ended with 300/10 and India with 332/10. In the 2nd Innings, Australia only managed 137/10, giving India an easy target to reach. India finished the 2nd Innings with 106/2.

Things were not looking good when India lost the first Test of the series in Pune. India fought harder in the second Test and won. After Australia had lost the second Test, the team fought hard to create a draw in the third Test. The third Test was declared a draw, leaving the chance for either team to win wide open. India went into the fourth day of the final Test with 0/19. Australia had not done well when batting but had hoped that they would manage to dislodge the Indian team with quality bowling. This was not to be, and India effortlessly went on to victory.

The Indian team’s skipper, Virat Kohli, had a difficult match after having sustained a shoulder injury that kept him out of most of the series. Kohli began the Test by noting that he is good friends with the Australian players off the field, and that when on the field, they are simply competitors. By the end of the series, Kohli had changed his tune, saying that this was no longer the case.

Kohli commented: “The thing I said before the first Test, that has certainly changed and you won’t hear me say that ever again.”

Steven Smith, the Australian skipper, and Kohli had clashed somewhat during the series. Smith apologized about his behavior, however, Kohli seems unwilling to forgive. Many were unimpressed at Kohli’s behavior during the four-Test series.
