India Beats England in First T20I

India has beaten England in the first T20 International of India’s current tour in England. The Indian cricket team beat England by eight wickets. The final results showed England with 159/8 in 20 overs, and India with 163/2 in 18.2 overs.

Although the hosts did have a good start to the match, Kuldeep Yadav took five wickets, three of which were in the same over.

KL Rahul made a century, ending the match with 101 not out. Rahul matched Rohit Sharma’s record of scoring two centuries in T20I matches. He is only the second Indian cricket player to have achieved this distinction.

Tensions were high as Rahul was one run away from his second T20I century, and the Indian team needed just five runs to win. After Rahul made his century, Virat Kohli made quick work of winning the match by ending with a six.

Virat Kohli Comments

Kohli, the team’s skipper, had the following to say after a great first match of the tournament: “Looking at the three skillsets, how successful we were in all three, gives me a lot of pleasure.”
Kohli commented on Kuldeep’s performance, showering praise on his excellent performance. He said: “He’s a wrist-spinner. He’s going to be effective on any pitch. With a bit of assistance, he becomes even more dangerous. He’s really worked on his skillsets.”
