India Beats New Zealand in T20 International Series

India and New Zealand have played the final match of the New Zealand tour of India. The hosts have beaten the visitors in the third T20 International match in the three-match series.

India won by six runs. The Indian team ended with a result of 67/5 in 8 overs, and New Zealand ended with 61/6 in 8 overs.

The match had been reduced to eight overs because of rain. Players and fans had been concerned that the final T20I match would not take place due to the bad weather conditions. With the series sitting at a score of one game each, nobody wanted to leave the final match undecided. Although the overs were substantially reduced, the match took place, allowing a definitive winner.

A Good Game Despite Weather Conditions

Virat Kohli, the Indian team’s skipper explained that although the weather conditions had delayed play, everyone was really happy to get a game in. Although he admitted that the team was nervous because of the damp pitch, he felt that all went well.

Amidst some laughter, Kohli said: “Rohi and MS came up with Bumrah bowling the second last, and Hardik bowled the last over well. When Hardik got hurt, I was… God forbid if I had to bowl the last four balls!”

Kohli further noted that the “stadium is beautiful, the outfield wonderful, and the crowd made it special.”

Player of the Match

Jasprit Bumrah was announced not only as the Player of the Match, but as the Player of the Series.

Bumrah had the following to say: “It was a good day. Slower delivery was gripping, so we wanted to stick to a basic plan. I and Bhuvi had a chat before the innings. After watching the first innings, we saw them bowling slower deliveries, but our balls weren’t gripping, so we had to bowl it back of a length and mix them with Yorkers.”
He further commented: “I wasn’t thinking too much, just focusing on every ball and on executing them.”
