India Beats Pakistan and Gets Ready to Play Sri Lanka

India and Sri Lanka are set to meet on the pitch on 8th June 2017 in the Champions Trophy. This will be the 8th match of the ICC Champions Trophy. The two teams are in Group B, along with South Africa and Pakistan.

The India cricket team played its first match of the Champions Trophy against arch-rivals Pakistan in Birmingham, England. Fans around the world were ready to see the two teams battle it out. Unfortunately, rain reduced the match to 48 overs. India beat Pakistan by 124 runs using the DLS method.

Yuvraj Singh was named the Man of the Match. He made 53 runs off of 32 balls, including 8 fours, and 1 six.

Virat Kohli, India’s captain, commented on the team’s performance in the match against Pakistan: “I would say nine out of 10. In the field we were still a six today. Very strong performance – we’ve taken the confidence from our practice games. We need to tighten our fielding to compete hard against the best teams.”

He further noted: “I felt like a club batsman while playing alongside Yuvi, the way he was hitting the ball. And Hardik, 18 off five balls, was outstanding. We went with four seamers purely because we’re playing Pakistan. Against other sides, we might use two spinners, depending on their strengths.”

The Pakistan cricket team captain, Sarfraz Ahmed, praised the Indian batsmen. Ahmed commented on the match: “Everything was under control after 40 overs, but we lost the plot in the last eight. Credit to India’s batsmen though. They scored 124 in those last eight, and the momentum went to India. I think we need to stick together and control our bowling (run) rate, especially in the last few overs.”
