India beat the West Indies by 10 wickets in the second Test of the two-Test series. The West Indies cricket team set a low target easily reached by the home team. This was India’s 10th straight Test series win at home.

The second Test took only three days before India passed the Windies’ score. In India’s second innings, Privthi Shaw and KL Rahul, the openers, ended not out with 33 runs each.

Player of the Match

Umesh Yadav made his maiden Test 10-wicket haul. He took 6/88 and then 4/45. Yadav thanks his teammates, both for their support, and help, along with playing together for the team.

He said: “I knew that I was the only fast bowler playing and felt that I had a good chance. I just kept going for wickets and kept trying my best.”

Player of the Series

Prithvi Shaw’s outstanding batting earned him Player of the Series. This was Shaw’s first national team Test series. The series ending in a whitewash, combined with the Player of the Series award, is simply an outstanding achievement.

Shaw commented: “Everyone is like a family; there is no senior or junior. It is a great journey, and I am looking forward to a lot of it. I don’t know what is happening next. I just want to enjoy this moment.”

India’s Skipper Comments

Virat Kohli, the Indian team captain, expressed his surprise that the second Test ended as soon as it did. He was aware it may end early, however he did not expect the match to be over in the morning on day three.

Kohli complimented Prithvi on his quality performance as a newcomer to the India Test squad. The skipper also spoke about Yadav.

“I am pleased to see how he’s stepped up for us in the absence of Shami, and after Shardul got injured.”

Kohli continued: “He keeps giving more than 100 percent every time in the field.”
