The Indian cricket team had been hoping for a win in the second match of the three-Test series in South Africa. South Africa had taken the first match, and if India had managed to equalize the score, they would have been in with a fighting chance.
Although India’s skipper, Virat Kohli, amassed a large number of runs, gaining his 21st Test century at Centurion, the team was unable to win the match.
Although India has already lost the Test series, the team is determined to win the third match, as is South Africa.
Top Job from Indian Bowlers
It is always tough when two quality teams meet each other on the cricket pitch. Both the Indian and South African teams have excellent bowlers.
Eric Simons, the former Indian bowling coach, commented on the Test matches in South Africa. He explained that his background as a bowling coach means that he can focus on the bowling, and not only the outcome of the matches.
“In both the first two Tests, India’s bowling attack has done a top job. What they did really well was have good tactics and plans in place. They executed those plans too.”
Simons offered some advice for the batsmen. He said: “When Indian cricketers come to South Africa, its is not about the balls you play. Mostly it is about the balls you leave, and that often defines your innings. I don’t think they have left very well, especially in conditions in Cape Town.
Upcoming Test Match
The third game of the three-match Test series between South Africa and India begins on Wednesday. The third Test will be played at The Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg from 24th – 28th January 2018.
After the final Test, there is a three day break before the first One Day International is played at Kingsmead, Durban.
