The India Women cricket team is set to host the England Women cricket team for a One Day International tournament in April 2018. There will be three matches played in the ODI series.
The series comes hot on the heels of the T20I tri-series that has taken place between India, Australia and England.
ODI Series Set for April
The One Day International series will begin on Friday, 6th April 2018, just five days after the tri-series sees its final match. Match number one will take place in the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. The other two matches will be played in the same venue. Match two is set for Monday, 9th April 2018, and the final ODI will take place on Thursday, 12th April 2018.
The two teams last played against each other in the 2017 Women’s World Cup Cricket tournament. While India made it to second place, and played excellent cricket, England took the cup in the final. India had beaten the England team earlier in the tournament.
It has been some time since India has hosted the England Women’s team. The last time the teams met each other on Indian soil was in February 2013 in the Women’s World Cup. This is the first time since 2010 that the two teams have played a bilateral One Day International series in India.
BCCI Announces ODI Series
The Board for Control of Cricket in India had issued a press release noting: “The England Women’s Cricket Team that will tour India in March 2018 to take part in the T20I tri-series featuring India Women and Australia Women will also play a three-match ODI series as part of a bilateral agreement between the two Boards.”
