It has been some time since India has played in a five-Test tour, and even longer since India has played a five-Test tour in England. The first of the five Test game begins on 9th July. The Indian team will arrive in England in the third week of June, and will be playing in warm-up matches that will be taking place in both Derbyshire and in Leicestershire.
The first Test match of the five-Test series will be played in Nottingham. The other Tests will be played at Lords in London and at The Oval in London, as well as in Manchester and in Southampton. After the five Test matches have taken place, there will be five one-day cricket matches played. There will also be a single Twenty20 international played during this tour.
This is the first five-Test series that India is playing in since 1997. The last time that India played in a five-Test tour in England was 55 years ago, where the outcome of 5 games to England, and zero to India, is an outcome that India hopes will not be repeated. The last five-Test series that India played in was in the in the Caribbean in 1997.
The India squad for the Test matches has been chosen. The squad will be captained by Maehendra Singh Dhoni, and the rest of the squad will consist of Murali Vijay, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammad Shami, Ishant Sharma, Varun Aaron, Pankaj Singh, Shikhar Dhawan, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishwar Pandey, Stuart Binny, and Wriddhiman Saha.
The limited overs matches will be taking place between 25th August and 7th September. Since the dates for these matches is further away, the teams for the limited overs matches have not yet been named and will be named later.
