India is Showing Great World Cup Potential
Although the hosts, New Zealand and Australia, are the current favorites to win the ICC World Cup 2015, India has been playing particularly well. After India’s poor show in the Tri-Series, things seem to have turned around, and they are certainly showing their strengths in the Cricket World Cup.
To begin with, India beat their archrivals, Pakistan, by 76 runs in Adelaide at the Adelaide Open. After that, the Indian team played against South Africa. The match ended with India winning by 130 runs, with 307/7, and South Africa scoring only 177.
MS Dhoni commented on the India – South Africa match, saying: “More than just a result, it was back to back good performances by the batsmen and bowlers.”
Dhoni also noted that the South African side are a “fantastic side” and that the team played well. Dhoni also commented on how well the Indian team had played, noting that Mohit and Umesh had both fielded well.
He also commended the team’s bowlers: “The fast bowlers aren’t giving away too many loose deliveries. It’s very pleasing to see. The amount of effort the fast bowlers are putting in at the nets is starting to show.”
Both Dhoni, and South Africa’s de Villiers, noted that it was a good toss to win. De Villiers noted, however, that even though it was a good toss to win, the India team played well, and his team simply should have played better.
This coming weekend, on 28th February, India will be playing against the United Arab Emirates at WACA in Perth. India will then play against the West Indies on Friday, 6th March, and against Ireland on Tuesday, 10th March. India will play against Zimbabwe on 14th March. After these matches, the ICC World Cup moves into the quarterfinals.
