India Reclaims Top Position in ICC ODI Rankings

Team India has won its third match One Day International match of the 5-match series against Australia. With two ODIs to go, India has won the series with a 3 – 0 lead. The win has pushed India back to the number one position in the ICC ODI cricket team rankings.

The final result of the third ODI show Australia with 293/6 in 50 overs, and a 5-wicket win for India with 294/5 in 47.5 overs.

Indian and Australian Skippers Comment

Virat Kohli, India’s captain, noted that while the Australian team had started well in the first 35 overs, the Indian team managed to come back from a somewhat difficult situation.

Kohli said: “I’m really, really satisfied with the win. Hardik is a star, has the ability with the ball, bat, and in the field. We need a guy like that. We’ve been missing an explosive all-rounder like him. He’s a great asset for Indian cricket.”

The Australian captain, Steven Smith, commented on how his team had set things up beautifully up until about the 37th and 38th overs. Although the team was in a good position, the Indian bowlers had executed the final overs very well.

Smith noted: “Hardik was magnificent in the end there. The wicket slowed up a little bit for both teams. The ball came on for the first 35 overs in both innings, but then slowed down. We weren’t good enough tot tackle that.”

Player of the Match

Hardik Pandya has once again excelled. He made 78 runs off of 72 balls that included four 6s and five 4s. His top quality bowling also helped to take the Indian cricket team to a win.

For his all- round playing and quality contribution to the game, Hardik was chosen as the Player of the Match.
