India v West Indies 1st ODI: Cricket Betting Tips
The hosts will not underestimate their opponents as the three-match India v West Indies ODI series kicks off in Chennai on Sunday.
The touring West Indians are the reigning T20 World Cup Champions. They can always be a threat in the limited overs forms of cricket. Kieron Pollard’s side took the recent T20I series to a decider and eventually emerged with a credible 2-1 defeat. But do the visitors have the patience and application for the 50 Over format?
We’ll have the answers soon.
What are the cricket odds for India v West Indies?
India could be backed at around 1.30 for each of those three T20 games and the result market is similar for Sunday’s first ODI. Virat Kohli’s men can be picked up at odds of 1.20 with Bet365 while victory for the touring West Indians has moved out to 4.75.
Any West Indies’ side can offer a threat in limited overs series but their best chance of an upset was on the T20 leg of this tour. In an extended, 50 over match, expect India to assert their dominance in all areas. Another 2-1 series outcome isn’t impossible but we are backing India – our betting favourites – to prevail in Chennai on Sunday.
Match Odds Summary:
India 1.20 (Bet365 – Editor’s Pick), West Indies 4.75
What are the top batsman odds for India v West Indies?
In Shikhar Dhawan’s absence, KL Rahul’s performances were a real bonus for India in that T20I series. The opener smashed two half-centuries, including a 91 in the final game and he becomes a strong contender as India’s top batsman in the ODIs. Rahul is available for Friday at odds of 4.50 with Bet365. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma remain joint favourites at 3.40.
Mayank Agarwal has been called into the squad as a replacement for the injured Dhawan and he is on offer at 4.75 with Betway while other picks for India include Rishabh Pant at 7.00 plus Shreyas Iyer and Manish Pandey at 8.00.
For the West Indies, Evin Lewis provided an injury scare when he limped out of the final T20I last week. We’ve been unable to find any updates on his situation. Please check the team sheets before taking Lewis at 4.75 in the Windies’ top batsman market.
Elsewhere, Shai Hope is the favourite here at 4.50. The dangerous Shimron Hetmyer is available at a generous 5.00. The tourists have arrived with some reasonable depth to their batting line up. You may want to consider Sunil Ambris at 5.50, or Nicholas Pooran at 5.50, Brandon King at 6.00 and Kieron Pollard at 11.00.
We claimed a profit at 4.50 on Rahul in the last T20I and are desperate to find a longer price. But we just can’t see past Virat Kohli. The skipper came in at first drop in Mumbai and proceeded to make 70 from just 29 balls. Kohli is in top form and in the longer format, he is primed to make a huge contribution.
Top Batsman Odds Summary:
India: Kohli 3.40 (Bet365 – Editor’s Pick), Rohit 3.40, Rahul 4.50, Agarwal 4.75, Pant 7.00, Iyer 8.00, Pandey 8.00
West Indies: Hope 4.50, Lewis 4.75, Hetmyer 5.00, Ambris 5.50, Pooran 5.50, King 6.00, Pollard 11.00
What are the top bowler odds for India v West Indies?
Two of our three Sattas for Wednesday’s T20I dropped in. And Mohammed Shami came close to making it a clean sweep in India’s top bowler market. Having picked two favourites for our opening tips, we really need to find some value now. We think there’s a case for backing Shami again at odds of 4.50 with Bet365.
The seamer has always impressed us since we kept a close eye on him in England in 2018. Betway clearly agree as they have Shami as their favourite at 3.25. We’ll add some other options below but those odds of 4.50 offer some real value when compared to the others.
India Top Bowler Odds Summary:
Chahal 3.75, Chahar 4.50, Shami 4.50 (Bet365 – Editor’s Pick), Jadeja 4.75, Kumar 4.50, Kuldeep 4.50
