India Wins First of Three ODIs in the UK

India and England have played the first of three One Day International matches in India’s tour of England. India is playing excellent cricket, and has won the match by a large margin with an 8-wicket win.

the visitors won the toss for the first ODI and opted to bowl first at Trent Bridge. England reached a total of 268 runs in 49.5 overs. Once India was up to bat, the team easily chased England’s total, getting 269/2 in 40.1 over.

Rohit Sharma made 137 runs not out. Shikhar Dhawan added 40 to the total, and Virat Kohli added 75 to the total. KL Rahul did not need to do much to help his team reach the necessary run total. Rahul ended on nine not out.

MS Dhoni, who needs just 33 runs to reach yet another milestone, did not even get a chance to bat. Dhoni was still two batsmen away in the batting lineup.

India’s Kuldeep Yadav, the left-handed wrist spinner has been simply outstanding. He took six wickets in the first ODI, and five wickets in the first T20I of the tour.

India Hopes to Regain Top ODI Spot

India is hoping to reclaim the top ODI spot, with the hopes of getting ahead of England, who currently rank in first place. If India managed to win the ODI series with 3 – 0, they will move up from second place, overtaking England.

Until the rankings had been adjusted in May, India had been in the number one ODI spot. The next rankings update takes place in August.

Virat Kohli, the Indian team’s skipper, is at the top of the points ranking for batsmen. He has a career-high rating of 909 points at this time.

The second ODI is set for Saturday, 14th July 2018. The match will take place at Lord’s cricket ground.
