India has beaten Sri Lanka in the third and final One Day International match of the current series. This is India’s eighth bilateral ODI series win in a row.
Sri Lanka ended with 215 runs in 44.5 overs, and India reached 219 for two in 32.1 overs. India won the match by eight wickets.
India had won the toss and chose to put Sri Lanka as the first to bat.
Player of the Match
Kuldeep Yadav was named as the Player of the Match, and Shikhar Dhawan was named as the Player of the Series.
Yadav won the Player of the Match award after taking an impressive 3/42. He explained that India needed wickets to win. He noted that not only has he been focusing on his bowling, he is also making sure that his general fitness is good.
Dhawan made 168 runs with an average of 84. Dhawan made his 12th ODI century in the third ODI against Sri Lanka. During the match, Dhawan was noted as the second fastest Indian cricket player to reach 4,000 runs in ODI matches. In India, his record is only beaten by Virat Kohli. He is the sixth fasted player to have achieved this record worldwide.
Trophy for India
As skipper of the Indian team, Rohit Sharma received the trophy for India’s ODI three-match series win. As is traditional, the trophy was handed over to a newcomer, Siddarth Kaul, to hold for the team photographs.
T20 Internationals Coming Soon
The Sri Lanka cricket tour is heading into its final phase. Now that the ODIs are done and dusted, the teams are looking forward to the T20 Internationals.
Three matches will be played with the first taking place at Barbati Stadium in Cuttack on 20th December 2017. The second T20I is set for 22nd December at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. The final T20I and final match of the series will take place on 24th December at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
