Sri Lanka beat India in the first game of the Nidahas Trophy in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The hosting team won by five wickets with 175/5 in 18.3 overs, with India ending on 174/5.
The second match has seen the India cricket team redeem itself in a match against Bangladesh. India ended with 140/4 in 18.4 overs and Bangladesh ended its 20 overs on 139/8.
India’s Skipper Comments
Rohit Sharma is the India captain for the Nidahas Trophy. He felt the team performed well, which was certainly expected against Bangladesh. India has beaten Bangladesh in all six of the Twenty20 International matches in which they have met.
“Right from the start to the end, it was clinical and a complete team effort,” said Rohit. “We looked into what went wrong in the game against Sri Lanka and we thought hitting the length was the option for us. We wanted their batsmen to take on the longer boundaries.”
Rohit further noted that the bowlers carried out their plans well. He also noted that there is always room to improve in catching, and that the team is working towards fielding better.
Player of the Match
Vijay Shankar was announced as the Player of the Match. The game against Bangladesh is Vijay’s second international game.
A delighted Shankar said: “Been looking forward to this. Have been working hard, so very happy. Bowling has given me something extra in my game. We got wickets today that helped us to restrict them. A lot of people (inspired me).”
Shankar further noted: “Being with this team is a dream for every cricketer. Everyone in the dressing room is very supportive.”
