Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings Head Points Table

Apart from Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Rajasthan Royals, the other IPL teams have each completed two matches to date. Sitting at the top of the 2019 points table are the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Chennai Super Kings. With four points each, both teams have won two for two. Our IPL 2019 recap thus far has all the other teams down a match, other than the Royal Challengers Bangalore who lost both matches so far.

On Wednesday, the Kolkata Knight Riders beat the Kings XI Punjab. On Thursday, the Mumbai Indians beat the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Friday’s match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Rajasthan Royals takes us to the end of the first IPL 2019 week. The match takes place in the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad at 20:00 IST on Friday, 29th March.

Kolkata Knight Riders Beat Kings XI Punjab

The Kolkata Knight Riders beat the Kings XI Punjab by 28 runs in their match on Wednesday, 27th March 2019. The match took place at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The final score then saw the Kolkata Knight Riders with 218/4, and Kings XI Punjab with 190/4.

Kolkata Knight Riders started off slowly with Chris Lynn’s 10 runs, and Sunil Narine’s 24 runs. Once Robin Uthappa came in to bat, though, the team saw a half century. Uthappa ended on 67 runs not out. The second half century for the Kolkata Knight Riders went to Nitish Rana with 63 runs. Meanwhile, Andre Russell just missed a half century, but added 48 runs to the team’s total. However, Dinesh Karthik, the team’s captain managed only one run, not out, before the end of the 20th over.

The Kings XI Punjab started with only one run for KL Rahul, and 20 runs for Chris Gayle. Mayank Agarwal came to bat, adding confidence with his run total of 58. Sarfaraz Khan added only 13 runs, followed by David Miller, with 59 runs, not out. Mandeep Singh managed 33 runs, not out, before the end of the 20th over.

Mumbai Indians Beat Royal Challengers Bangalore

On Thursday, 28th March, the Mumbai Indians beat the Royal Challengers Bangalore by six runs. They played the match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The Mumbai Indians scored 187/8 while the Royal Challengers Bangalore managed only 181/5.

The Mumbai Indians won their first match of the season, and the Royal Challengers Bangalore still stand at zero for two. Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss, and opted to bowl first. However, Mumbai Indians, captained by Rohit Sharma, accumulated their runs as a team effort.

As for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the team began accumulating runs, but Jasprit Bumrah got the better of them. AB de Villiers made 70 runs not out, and Virat Kohli added 46, with opener Parthiv Patel starting with 31.

Man of the Match went to Jasprit Bumrah playing for the Mumbai Indians. The bowler dismissed Virat Kohli, Shimron Hetmyer, and Colin de Grandhomme. That completes our IPL 2019 recap, but don’t forget to check back regularly for updates.
