The Kolkata Knight Riders beat the Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator played in Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The team won by 25 runs, taking them through to Qualifier 2 where they will meet Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The final results of the Eliminator game ended with 144/4 for the Rajasthan Royals in 20 overs. Kolkata Knight Riders ended with 169/7 in 20 overs.
The Chennai Super Kings won Qualifier 1 by two wickets. The team played against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Sunrisers Hyderabad ended the match on 139/7 in 20 overs, and Chennai Super Kings ended with 140/8 in 19.1 overs.
Faf du Plessis’s batting stood out as he pushed the Chennai Super Kings ahead, ending on 67 not out. This was Faf’s fifth game of the season.
The Chennai Super Kings have made their way to the Indian Premier League Final for the seventh time in the history of the IPL. This is the team’s seventh out of nine attempts to reach the Final. This is the team’s first year back after a two-year ban.
This may be the team’s seventh IPL Final, but it is MS Dhoni’s eighth IPL Final. Dhoni is the first IPL player in IPL history to reach the Final match eight times.
Qualifier 2 on Friday
The second Qualifier will take place on Friday, 25th May 2018 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. While Sunrisers Hyderabad is currently in the lead on the Points Table, it remains to be seen if a home game and adrenalin will take the Kolkata Knight Riders to the final match.
Tensions are rising now that the Final is in our sights. The Chennai Super Kings have their spot in the final secured. The team that holds the second place in the Points Table, will find themselves facing either Sunrisers Hyderabad or Kolkata Knight Riders.
No matter which of the Qualifier 2 teams win, there is still some exciting cricket ahead. The Final match is scheduled for Sunday, 27th May 2018 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
