Mumbai Indians have beaten the Gujarat Lions in a brilliant Super Over. The team has maintained its position in the 2017 Indian Premier League, and now has 14 points, the same number of points as the Kolkata Knight Riders.
The match between the Mumbai Indians and the Gujarat Lions was one that kept fans on the edge of their seats as it continued past midnight in a dramatic Super Over. The Mumbai Indians had not done as well as they had hoped but had managed to tie the game.
Jasprit Bumrah went to bowl, and as long as he could keep his head about him and not crash under the tremendous pressure, the Mumbai Indians had a very good chance of winning. Bumrah was bowling to top batsmen, Brendon McCullum and Aaron Finch.
The decision to put Bumrah in over Lasith Malinga appears to have been the right one, as he was focused, and helped take the team to a win. During the match, Bumrah had been focused and confident. He is also well-known for his death bowling, and bowling Yorkers.
Bumrah said: “They told me to back my skills and not to take extra pressure. ‘Be confident, be calm, and try to execute your plans.’”
He also noted that his rigorous practices are done as if he is in a game. “I don’t practice keeping a shoe like Malinga does but I practice with him. I practice consistently. I always have a death bowling session when I practice.”
Krunal Pandya won the man of the match for his all-round performance. When he commented, he said that the win was a gift from the team to the team’s skipper. After the match was over, the team shared a birthday cake with their captain as Rohit Sharma celebrated his 30th birthday.
