Jerome Taylor to Replace Lasith Malinga

After suffering an injury, Lasith Malinga, a Sri Lankan player on the Mumbai Indians team, will be unable to play in the rest of this year’s Indian Premier League.

Malinga has played with the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League since 2009. He has played in 98 IPL matches. He will be unable to continue playing at this time because of a recurring knee injury. Malinga also missed much of the recent ICC World T20.

Malinga will be replaced by Jerome Taylor. Taylor has not played with the Mumbai Indians before, but has played for the Pune franchine and KXIP in previous versions of the IPL. He will officially become part of the Mumbai Indians team after contractual paperwork has been completed.

Earlier this season, the Mumbai Indians had to replace their West Indian batsman, Lendl Simmons, with Martin Guptill from New Zealand. Taylor is the team’s second replacement this IPL.
