Ranji TrophyRound 6 of the Ranji Trophy 2016/17 begins today. The teams are ready to go, and are looking to get to the best positions possible within each group.

Mumbai are the defending champions, and are currently at the top with a lead of five points. If Mumbai wins the match against Gujarat, the team will go on to the quarter finals.

Punjab will be playing against Tamil Nadu in a game in which the tensions could run high. It has come as somewhat of a surprise that Yuvraj Singh will not be playing against Tamil Nadu. He has taken some time off to plan his wedding. The side is being led by Gurkeerat Mann. Yuvi is the player that gets the highest number of runs for the team. It remains to be seen how the game will pan out without him in the lineup.

In the match between Saurashtra and Vidarbha, Saurashtra have already lost a couple of wickets with Samarth Vyas and Amitoze Singh dismissed. Saurashtra might not have had a good start to the day, however, the team’s skipper, Jaydev Shah has achieved a first with the start of today’s match. He is the first captain to have led Saurashtra in 100 First-Class cricket matches.

Group C is likely to bring us some exciting cricket since Hyderabad, Andra, Himachal and Haryana are all very close in points. All four of these teams will be doing their utmost to get an edge.
