Royal Challengers Bangalore Beat Gujarat Lions in Qualifier 1
The Royal Challengers Bangalore reached the final when they won the first qualifier on Tuesday. The team played against the Gujarat Lions, and won the match by four wickets.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore had been wallowing near the bottom of the Indian Premier League, with only two wins out of eight matches. The team was pulled out of its slump, going on to win five out of the next six games. After finishing second in the standings, Royal Challengers Bangalore went on to win Qualifier 1 in the match against the Gurjarat Lions. AB de Villiers can certainly be singled out as the player who led the team towards the top of the standings.
Sunrisers Hyderabad Beat Kolkata Knight Riders in Qualifier 2
The Sunrisers Hyderabad had found themselves at the top of the table. In their three matches before the qualifier, the team lost two, and only won one. The two defeats took the team down from the top position. When the Sunrisers Hyderabad entered Qualifier 2, they did so at third place in the standings.
Although the team could have lost its place in the playoffs had they had just one more defeat, the Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to sneak into the qualifier. Once the team was playing the important qualifying match, their game began to improve again. The Sunrisers Hyderabad beat the Kolkata Knight Riders, a team that has taken home the trophy twice before. This year, the Kolkata Knight Riders will not be taking home the trophy after having been beaten with 22 runs by the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
RCH and SRH to Meet in the Finals
The Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Sunrisers Hyderabad will meet each other in the final on Sunday night, 29th May 2016. The final will take place in the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
