Sunrisers Hyderabad Beat Royal Challengers Bangalore in Opening

The Rajiv Gandhi cricket stadium in Hyderabad was filled with fans at the opening match of the 2017 VIVO Indian Premier League. Since this year is the 10th anniversary of the IPL, the past nine years were commemorated with a number of memorable moments from the previous years of outstanding cricket.

After the ceremony was over the opening match was played between the previous year’s winners, the Sunrisers Hyderabad team, and the runners up, the Royal Challengers Bangalore. SRH are captained by David Warner, and RCB have Virat Kohli as its skipper.

Sunrisers Hyderabad reached 207-4, which included a half century from Yuvraj Singh. Royal Challengers Bangalore were bowled out in the second part of the match, and were beaten by 35 runs.

While the SRH skipper, David Warner, was bolwed out in the second over of the innings. Shikar Dhawan and Moises Henriques continued at the bat. At the end of six overs, SRH had reached 59-1, which included four boundaries from Dhawan.

Yuvraj Singh reached a half century in only 23 deliveries. It was the first half century in the IPL since May 2015, and his first for SRH. He made 62 off of 27 balls before he was dismissed by Mills. Yuvraj’s quality batting, with 3 sixes and 7 fours, led him to be named as Man of the Match.

Rashid Khan from Sunrisers Hyderabad is one of two players from Afghanistan who will appear in the IPL this year. He now holds the distinction of being the first player from Afghanistan to have played in an IPL match. He is also the second youngest player from overseas to have played in the IPL. Mitchell Marsh was the youngest at 18 years and 170 days while Rashid Khan is 18 years and 197 days old.

In Match 2, Rising Pune Supergiant beat Mumbai Indians with 187-3 to 184-8 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association’s International Stadium in Pune.
