West Indies v India 2nd ODI: Cricket Betting Tips

By Matt Harris on August 9, 2019

West Indies take on India in their second ODI match this Sunday. Before then, here’s the match preview, complete with odds for cricket bettors at the sportsbooks and, of course, our 2nd ODI tips for West Indies v India.

Markets Mostly Unchanged After 1st ODI Washout

The weather that has threatened much of India’s tour had a proper say on Thursday. The first ODI between these two sides was subsequently washed out after just 13 overs. The Windies had made a solid start in Guyana, but we can read very little into that short passage of play as we move forward.

Next up is Sunday’s second game as we move across to Trinidad. As you may expect, the betting markets are also largely unchanged.

What are the 2nd ODI tips for West Indies v India?

India remain red hot favourites for the win and you can pick up Virat Kohli’s men at odds of 1.30 with Betway. West Indies are the outside Satta at 3.40. Needless to say, our views are the same as they were at the start of the week.

In the longer formats, India should have no issues against a side who are struggling beyond the 20 over game. West Indies’ best chance of recording a series win was in the T20s when India were resting most of their first choice bowling attack. Now that we’ve reached the ODIs, which precede two tests, it should be a comfortable ride for the tourists.

Match Odds Summary: West Indies 3.40, India 1.30 (Betway – Editor’s Pick).

What are the top batsman 2nd ODI tips for West Indies v India?

– West Indies Batsman Picks

The one significant piece of action in Thursday’s abandoned game saw Chris Gayle dismissed cheaply. Gayle made just four before he dragged on to Kuldeep Yadav. The Windies really need his runs in this ODI series, too. Gayle starts at 4.25 to score most West Indian runs on Sunday. Meanwhile, Shai Hope is the favourite in this market at 4.00 with Bet365.

Evin Lewis made a brisk 40, with three sixes, before the rain returned in Guyana and he now looks particularly interesting at 5.00. Aside from those three batters, nobody else made it to the crease. Therefore, it’s going to be tough to predict a winner. Other picks for the Windies include Nicholas Pooran at 6.00, Shimron Hetmyer at 6.50, and Carlos Brathwaite at 23.00.

– India Batsman Picks

India’s top batsman market remains unchanged at the top. Virat Kohli continues to lead the way at 3.10. The skipper is followed by vice captain Rohit Sharma at 3.25 with Betway. Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan is out at 5.00.

Elsewhere, Rishabh Pant has shortened considerably to 5.50. Other options include KL Rahul at 6.00, Manish Pandey at 6.50, Shreyas Iyer at 6.50 and Kedar Jadhav at 13.00.

Ahead of the first game, we went for Sharma and see no reason to change our mind here. The opener top scored in both T20i matches in which he played and we’re backing Rohit to continue that fine form into the ODIs.

Top Batsman Odds Summary: West Indies: Hope 4.00, Gayle 4.25, Lewis 5.00, Pooran 6.00, Hetmyer 6.50, Brathwaite 23.00.

India: Kohli 3.10 (Bet365), Sharma 3.25 (Betway – Editor’s Pick), Dhawan 5.00, Pant 5.50, Rahul 6.00, Pandey 6.50, Iyer 6.50, Jadhav 13.00.

What are the match hundred 2nd ODI tips for West Indies v India?

Our last Satta for Sunday’s game is also unchanged from the first ODI. The bookies are offering odds of 2.20 for no player to pass three figures in Sunday’s game. We think this is a value option to close out our review.

None of the wickets produced so far have been conducive to big scores. And while there are world class batters in both camps, there are also plenty of bowlers equipped to exploit those conditions. Low scoring has been the theme on this tour so far and we’re backing that trend to continue.

Will there be a hundred scored in the match odds summary: Yes: 1.66, No: 2.20 (Bet365 – Editor’s Pick).
