Whitewash Prevented: India Beats South Africa in Third Test

India has won the third Test in the three-match series. South Africa may have won the series with 2 – 1, but India avoided a whitewash. The Indian cricket team won by 63 runs.

There were some delays because of a damp outfield, however, play did continue. The Indian team took nine wickets in 53 runs. Hashim Amla was caught out, and later AB de Villiers was also dismissed. After the tea break, another four wickets were taken in just 15 balls.

Yet Another Wanderers Win for India

It was important for the Indian team to end the three-Test series with at least one game in their favor. Despite having lost the first two matches, and therefore the Test series, the team did not want to end with a 0 – 3 result.

In addition to simply wanting to avoid a whitewash, India has a history of winning Tests at The Wanderers in Johannesburg. The team has an unbeaten record of only winning Test matches at the South African cricket stadium.

All Wickets Fell in Three-Test Series

The Test series certainly had an unexpected finish. An interesting fact about this three-Test series is that all 120 wickets fell. This is the only three-Test series in which all the wickets fell.

One Day Internationals in February

Now that the Tests are done and dusted, the One Day International matches are up next.

The first of six ODIs is set to take place on Thursday, 1st February 2018 at Kingsmead in Durban.

The other ODIs are set to take place on 4th, 7th, 10th, 13th, and 16th February 2018.

After the ODIs are completed, the Indian men’s cricket tour of South Africa will end with three T20 International matches. The T20I matches are set for 18th, 21st, and 24th February 2018.

The Indian cricket team are aiming towards a better overall result than they achieved in the Test series.
