The India – Australia Test series currently stands level at 1 – 1. Many feel that Australia’s momentum after winning the second Test will take them to a series win. Although India suffered a drubbing in the second Test, with Australia winning by 146 runs, there is still hope.
The third Test in the series begins on 26th December. The tension ahead of the Boxing Day Test and the 1 – 1 score brings with it much speculation.
Sourav Ganguly commented: “India can still win. It depends on how they play. All in the playing eleven have to take up responsibility. Everybody has to play well.”
Sir Vivian Richards Comments
Sir Vivian Richards, former top cricketer for the West Indies team, commented on Virat Kohli’s part in the Indian team. Richards feels that Virat Kohli could take India to a series win even though the Perth match leveled the series.
“India has got a wonderful opportunity to win the series,” said Richards. “They would have had a setback in Perth but they can still win. They have a captain like Virat who wears his heart on his sleeve. He has the stomach to compete, and drag his players to victory.”
Richards praised the Australian team, noting that despite David Warner and Steve Smith out of the game, they are formidable. He noted that what the team may lack in skill, they make up for with their attitude.
Commenting on the Indian cricket team, Richards noted: “I am still backing them to win the series.”
Boxing Day Test
The jury is still out on whether India or Australia will win this Test series. There is no doubt, however, that fans are enjoying exciting cricket matches between two excellent teams.
Test 3 will take place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne, Australia on 26th December 2018.
