This is the seventh year that this women’s golfing championship is taking palce in India. The women’s international golfing talent that join in with this championship come from both Asia and Europe. This golf championship is part of the Ladies Asian Golf Tour and the Ladies European Golf Tour. The Hero Women’s Indian Open was recognised by the Ladies Asian Golf Tour in 2007, and a bit later, in 2010, the Ladies European Tour also sanctioned this Indian women’s golfing event, giving it further prestige.
Women’s golf in India has grown substantially in the past few years. The prize money being offered for the Hero Women’s Indian Golf championship is US$ 300,000. This amount has grown from the original US$ 100,000 that was offered in the tournament’s first year in 2007. It certainly seems that Indian women’s golf has a very bright future.
