Safe ‘Man of the Match’ Bets During World Cup 2019 (Part 2)
In our first part, we looked at potential World Cup ‘Man of the Match’ contenders for England, South Africa and the West Indies. In part 2, we continue to look at the remaining teams at the 2019 ICC World Cup that cricket bettors may consider taking a bet on at the sportsbooks. Once again, we will list two match winners from each team who we think could walk away with World Cup ‘Man of the Match’ awards.
Best World Cup Man of the Match Contenders
If you decide to do some World Cup betting, then you might want to put some money down on World Cup ‘Man of the Match’ contenders. After all, there are great payouts if you get your selection right. Here are our picks for Australia, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Defending champions Australia are amongst the top three teams favoured to win the World Cup having odds of 10/3. Australia have had a good start to their World Cup campaign but not a great one, having lost to India. However, the Aussies are settling down and are looking a lot more threatening as the competition moves on. The two key players that we believe you should watch out for are:
– David Warner
David Warner did not look himself in the first two games. In fact, he made the slowest 50 of his career against the Indians. Captain Aaron Finch said that Warner needed to get his mental game right. That’s exactly what he did against Pakistan scoring a magnificent century that won him the man of the match award. Warner is now second on the list of batsmen with the most runs scored at the World Cup with 260. He will subsequently use that new found confidence to stamp his authority on the tournament.
– M Starc
M Starc is one of the most fierce bowlers at the death with his pace and swing. Starc was responsible for dismantling a Pakistan fightback and sits in second place on the list of leading wicket-takers with 9 wickets in the bag. If Starc continues to remain injury free, he will pose a major threat at the death. That is where he can pick up a flurry of wickets and influence the course of the match.
No one is sure which Pakistan team shows up to which match. On one side, you have an extremely talented bunch of cricketers that can beat any team on any given day. On the other hand, you have a Pakistani side that can look like a bunch of domestic cricketers who get out easily, drop catches and concede a bunch of extras. The two key players that you should watch out for are:
– M Amir
M Amir came into this World Cup with question marks around his form. He has since responded brilliantly to lead the list of leading wicket takers (10 wickets). English conditions are perfect for Amir’s style of bowling and he can be deadly both at the top of the order and at the death. If Amir plays to potential, there is no reason why he cannot win games on his own for Pakistan.
– B Azam
B Azam is yet to set the tournament on fire. Make no mistake about it, though, he is a class batsman and arguably the best batsman in this Pakistani lineup. He is too good to not make an impact at the World Cup. It is a bit risky if you are looking to bet on Azam. Then again, it’s risky to bet on any Pakistani player.
Afghanistan are still considered minnows by many, but have showed they have the ability to upset top teams. The key players for them to succeed are:
– R Khan
R Khan, the 21 year old leg-break bowler, has immense experience playing T20 cricket around the world. Furthermore, he is one of the best leg spinners in the game. English conditions don’t exactly favour his kind of bowling, but he will find a way to be a game changer.
M Nabi has the ability to influence the game with both bat and ball. So far he has done well with the ball, but hasn’t really come good with the bat. If you are willing to bet on Afghanistan, then Nabi is a good player to back.
