Yuvraj Singh did not have a good IPL. He was dropped from the Indian squad when he simply did not do well with either batting or bowling in the IPL games. He has been training hard, and it seems to have paid off because Singh was named as the India A squad captain for the upcoming matches against the West Indies A. The series begins on Sunday.
The left-hander has been seen training in Bangalore at the National Cricket Academy. He has been batting at the nets, but mostly he has been training indoors to ready himself for the match against the West Indies cricket team.
There will be three four day matches in the series between the Indian A team and the West Indies A team. In addition to that, there will be another four matches, three of these will be limited overs matches, and one will be a Twenty20 match. The four day matches will be taking place in three different locations, in Hubli, Shimoga, and Mysore. The three limited overs matches and the T20 match will be taking place in the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Yuvraj Singh is not alone in finding himself back on the team after a bit of a break. Other players that are making a comeback along with Singh are Zaheer Khan, Gautam Gambhir, and Virender Sehwag. Singh will captain the team for the three limited overs matches and for the T20 match, while the other three senior players, Khan, Gambhir, and Sehwag will be playing in two out of the three four day matches in the series against the West Indies that will be taking place in October. None of these players will be playing in the first four day game that takes place later this month.
After arriving in India on Thursday, the West Indies team were already practicing their game on Friday, wasting no time ahead of Sunday’s series.
