Flemington Race Betting Tips
#1 Princess Jenni – Flemington R1 (13:55) – 2600m
The odds favour Bartholomew Dias in this race but Princess Jenni seems like a better option based on recent performances. The 5-year-old bay filly beat drifting odds to win a Bendigo 2400m race in October end – no easy feat at 62kg. She followed it with a gutsy 5-10 at Pakenham 2500m on December 5th.
#3 Bartholomew Dias has the weight advantage at 56kg, but the recent form does not suggest anything too persuasive. He had a forgettable outing at Mooney Valley on 28 November, finishing 8-12. Freshened 3 weeks since the bay gelding comes to this race with an 87 rating.
#2 Djukon is another good option with a 57kg advantage on Princess Jenni. Returning to the track after a 6-week break, the 5 year old chestnut gelding managed to finish 8th out of 12 runners at Flemington race over a distance of 2800m. Nothing too remarkable there, but he showed an honest effort in races prior, getting places at Randwick and Rose Hill in September – October.
Horse Race Betting Odds
If Djukon is your pick, Bet365 is your best option at 5.5. All others have him around odds of 4.
#3 Written Miss – Flemington R2 (14:30) – 1200m
If you are looking for a sure thing, Written Miss seems to be it for the Saturday races at Flemington. Trained by Caroline Jennings, the filly has impressed with wins in her first two races at Ballarat in October and Pakenham on December 5 (both 1000m).
#7 Real Feeling, coming from a breezy win at Wodonga in November, is another one to watch in this race. Fresh after a 3-week break, the bay filly has a 2kg advantage on Written Miss. #6 Zion is another one coming into this race with a win, this one at Bendigo in a 1000m in late November.
Flemington Race: Horse Race Betting Odds
Both Betfair and Paddy Power have Written Miss at 2.8, while she is drifting at Bet365 at 2.9. Real Feeling is at a solid 4.4 at Bet365 and 4.2 elsewhere. Zion has longer odds at 7 on most of these horse race betting sites.
#1 Vungers – Flemington R4 (15:40) – 1600m
With 2 consecutive wins at Wodonga and Donald, the 7-year-old Vungers is on a roll coming to Flemington. The brown gelding is the clear tote favourite with an 85 rating and a weight allowance of 62kg.
#2 Black Sail is a strong contender, with a win at Geelong flanked by 3rd at Benalla and Kilmarnock for a recent form that reads 3-1-3. The brown gelding is back on the track after 4 weeks and should prove to be a value bet. Another interesting pick is #4 Skiddaw, with an 81 rating. Fresh after a win at Ballarat 4 weeks ago, the bay gelding has a recent record that reads 4-1-2.
Flemington Race: Horse Race Betting Odds
The best odds for Vungers are at Bet365 with 3.6, narrowly ahead of William Hill, Betfair and Paddy Power at 3.5. Things are more interesting for Black Sail, who commands 9.5 at both William Hill and Bet365 and 8 at others.
#1 Fine Dane – Flemington R9 (19:00) – 1000m
Of the 15 contenders in this 1000m sprint, Overkill is on form with consecutive wins at Bendigo and Moonee Valley. But he has never run at this distance before and therefore is not the best pick in our books. #1 Fine Dane is our pick with an excellent record in this class and distance over his 23 starts.
The bay gelding is long overdue a win this season and that could come this Saturday at Flemington. His 83 top rating comes with an 82.5kg handicap. His recent record is 3-10-5-7-9, but he remains a reliable runner with 4 wins, and 7 places so far.
#14 China Affair is another horse to watch, coming off a win at Sandown way back in August. Spelled for 18 weeks, the 4-year-old bay gelding remains a somewhat unorthodox choice for this race. He does enjoy a weight advantage due to his lowish 70 rating.
Flemington Race: Horse Race Betting Odds
Fine Dane is pegged at 7.5 at Bet365, twice that of Overkill who remains the bookies favourite at 3.5. But the Fine Dane odds are shortening at most places, dropping to 7. China Affair has odds of 10 everywhere, except at Unibet where he ranks in lower at 11.
