Cricket South Africa (CSA) approved a new T20 domestic tournament called SA20 that will have its inaugural edition commence on 10 January 2023. SA20 will comprise six South African franchises for the first edition of the tournament.

SA20 will be the third domestic cricket league in South Africa. The first T20 league was launched in 2017 and was called the T20 Global League.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape defeated Pretoria Capitals by 4 wickets to win SA20 2023. SEC’s captain Aiden Markram was also awarded the man of the tournament. Roelof van der Merwe was awarded the ‘Man of the match’ trophy in SA20 final.

It lasted just one season and was replaced by the Mzansi Super League (MSL) in 2018. The MSL ran for two seasons before closing down.

SA20 is different from the other two T20 leagues that failed because the successful team owners from the Indian Premier League (IPL) have got involved with SA20 and own the six SA20 franchises which are also reflected in the names of these teams as they are similar to the IPL teams.

The six teams that will play the inaugural SA20 are Joburg Super Kings, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, Durban Super Giants, Pretoria Capitals, Paarl Royals, and MI Cape Town.

Each team will consist of a mix of South African players and overseas players in a similar vein as the IPL but at much lower auction purses. Let’s now have a look at SA20 betting sites, SA20 odds, SA20 prediction, and much more.

Since we have no previous history of the SAT20 to see how teams performed, we can only make SA20 winner prediction based on the strength of the squad and the experience of the head coach to determine who we think will win the tournament.

T20 cricket is always exciting because it is not easy to predict a result because the game can change within an over. MI Cape were pre-tournament favorites to win SA20 but they have struggled in the first season.

Led by Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan, MI Cape Town’s owners had invested a lot in their squad but they performed very poorly in the first season

With Wayne Parnell wearing the skipper’s armband, Pretoria Capitals are top of the SA20 points table. Pretoria Capitals have odds of 3.40 on Betway to win SA20. They have been the team to beat this season and we are backing them to win the first-ever SA20 season

Recommended Betting Tip: Pretoria Capitals (3.40)
