Gilgandra Race Tips
#10 Fox On The Rocks – GilgandraR2 (08:20) – 1100m
The favourite to win in this 1100m maiden race is a bay filly – Fox On The Rocks. The 3-year-old has decent form, scoring a pair of third places in her last two outings, the most recent of which was at Dubbo two weeks ago.
#4 Geesheehan is a more experienced campaigner with 14 starts so far, yielding 4 places (0-2-2). The bay gelding comes here after a good outing at Dubbo in December, coming second in a 1000m race.
Out of the rest, #5 Sidewalk is the most promising. The bay gelding has one place from his 5 starts (0-1-0), which he scored in his recent race at Moree on December 19.
Betting Odds
The best odds for Fox On The Rocks is available at Bet365 and 22Bet – both have her at 2.90. Geesheehan trails on the books with a still respectable 3.70. Sidewalk is a solid option at 6.00.
#11 Manadria– Gilgandra R3 (08:55) – 1280m
In this maiden handicap race with 15 runners (after one scratch), the odds seem stacked heavily in favour of a 5-year-old brown/black gelding – Manadria. The #11 has a career record of 0-1-2 from 7 starts. His recent results look quite strong as well – 7-3-0-3-2.
The horse most likely to give chase is another gelding, 4-year-old and far more experienced with 17 starts – #8 Fields Of Red. The chestnut horse has 5 races this season (0-2-2), with recent results of 3-2-0-2-3.
The next best option is #5 Candy Pants – a 4-year-old bay mare. Her 19 career starts have yielded 0-2-1 in terms of finishes, with 7 starts (0-1-1) this season.
Betting Odds
Both 22Bet and Bet365 have Manadria as their clear favourites at 2.80. But Fields Of Red is potentially more rewarding at 5.50. Candy Pants has much longer odds of 8.00 at both sites.
#4 Fox Spirit– Gilgandra R6 (10:40) – 1200m
This is the big one of the day – a Class 2 Handicap race with 15 runners (after one scratch). #4 Fox Spirit seems the pick of the front runners, thanks to a strong run of 2-2-3 in her last three races this season. The 4-year-old brown mare has a career record of 1-4-1 from 9 starts and a 57 rating.
Matching her somewhat in form and stats is #13 Time For Don, a 4-year-old bay gelding. His career stats read 1-3-0 (9 starts), with a quite promising recent run of 6-2-2-2. He gets a 50 rating for this race.
#7 Matter Of Factor has a slightly better 54 rating going into this race. The 4-year-old bay mare has 14 career starts with a record of 2-2-3. Her recent results are also very encouraging – 4-1-3-3, with a season record of 1-0-2 (4 starts).
Betting Odds
Fox Spirit is ahead at 3.50 at Bet365 and 22Bet, followed by Time For Don at 4.80. The best value might still be Matter Of Factor at 5.50.
#1 Primal Scream – GilgandraR9 (12:35) – 1100m
The #1 Primal Scream is heavily favoured in this BM58 Handicap race. He is a 4-year-old bay gelding 9 starts into his career with a record of 2-0-2. This will be his first race of the current season, but he has impressed on trials at Scone in December. He is rated 59.
The next best thing in this race is #10 Alpha Go. A 3-year-old chestnut gelding, he has a 54 rating and a career record of 1-0-2 from 4 starts. He finished last out of 7 in his recent Class 1 race, but in his defence, that was after a 9-week spell.
A 6-year-old gelding, #3 Eleazar is a decent proposition as well, with a 56 rating. His 27 starts have yielded a 2-4-3 record, with 1-0-0 in this season (from 8 starts). That win was at Scone (1100m) in November 2020.

You can have Primal Scream at 3.20 on Bet365 and 22Bet. Alpha Go is at 5.00, with Eleazar an intriguing choice at 7.00.
