Racing is at its peak at the Mahalaxmi Race Course in Mumbai. Our fellow passionate bettors can look forward to an action-packed race card on the 12th of February, 2021. There are 8 races slated for the afternoon with Race No. 6, The Sir Charles Forbes Trophy being the maiden horse race that we are focusing on.

Mumbai Horse Race At A Glance

The Sir Charles Forbes Trophy is for three-year-old maiden horses and is run over a distance of 1200m. 8 horses will come under the starters’ orders at 4 pm IST with half of them carrying 54.5 kgs and the other half 56kgs. It would be prudent to note that the record time was set by the dark bay gelding Holy Smoke (54.5kgs) in 2017. Let’s see if anyone can beat that record time of 1:09.54 secs.

This is obviously a race that favors sprinters and since this is a maiden horse race, picking a winner is pretty tough, given the fact none of the 8 contenders have yet won a race. The race has a total prize purse of INR 300,000 with the winner making its connections richer by INR 150,000.  Let’s take a quick look at the main horses in the fray.

#1 Bernini

The three-year-old bay colt (Ampere(FR)-Chef D’oeuvre) finished 8th in his last outing over the same distance of 1200m on the 10th of January in the N M Irani Trophy. Trained by S K Sunderji, the colt will have jockey A. Sandesh in the saddle and will be carrying 56kgs.

#2 Executive Decision

This is another horse under trainer S K Sunderji who may be used as the pacemaker in this race. The three-year-old bay gelding (Surfrider(IRE)-Anodyne) finished 5th in its last run in the Campanero Plate at the end of January. The race was run over 1200m. The time of 1:12.23 is worth noting, as the gelding finished just under 3 seconds behind the winner. With jockey C S Jodha in the saddle, this horse is worth noting.

#3 Sky Storm

The Imtiaz Sait trained Sky Storm (Roderic O’Connor(IRE)-Divine Impact) 3-year-old chestnut gelding will have its first taste of competition. Veteran jockey Dashrath Singh is sure to coax this gelding smoothly down the track.

#4 Spinoza

Trained by Pesi Shroff, Spinoza (Air Support(USA)-Showin’off), will also be put to test in its first competition. The 3-year-old bay colt was withdrawn from the Karl Umrigar Trophy around a month earlier. The colt will be ridden by P S Chouhan, a jockey with quite a good track record in terms of wins and placing.

#5 Amalfitana

The progeny of Vadamos and Darkyila (IRE) is a 3-year-old bay filly who managed to finish 9th in her previous outing in the Campanero Plate at the end of January. Trained by Altamash Ahmed, the filly will have jockey N S Parmar in the saddle.

#6 Fortune Cookie

This three-year-old bay filly (Chevalier(IRE)-Habituated) is one of the experienced horses in this race having run three races of the last month and a half. The filly finished 6 – 5 – 3 in her three outings with her best being in the Campanero Plate over a distance of 1200m at the end of January. The S Waheed trained filly will be ridden by T S Jodha, who has an impressive number of wins and places to his credit.

#7 Love Warrior

Dallas ToddywallaS trained Love Warrior (David Livingston(IRE)-Magic Vision) is a 3-year-old chestnut filly whose only outing was in The Conrad Hotels, Pune Trophy, where she managed to finish 7th in a time of 1:13:19 over the same distance of 1200m. With jockey P Trevor in control, this could be the filly to watch.

#8 Supreme Angel

The progeny of (Win Legend(JPN)-Angels Glory), the 3-year-old chestnut filly Supreme Angel managed to finish fourth in The N M Irani Trophy just a month ago over the same distance. The Adhiraj S Jodha trained filly will be steered by jockey Neeraj Rawal, who is certainly one of the top jockeys who can blaze the tracks in this race.

Top Picks FOR MUMBAI HORSE RACE (OUTRIGHT Winner)

For the most part, the Mumbai horse race is an open book. But there are a few who can tip the table in their favor. #6 Fortune Cookie seems to have a good chance of hitting the post. She has run the distance and managed to finish third. One can expect T S Jodha to push the filly to the limit.

#8 Supreme Angel could be another strong contender having finished fourth in her last outing over the same distance. With Neeraj Rawal in the saddle, it wouldn’t be surprising if she pips her competitors to the post.

#2 Executive Decision could spoil the party since the bay gelding has covered the same distance and finished fifth. Victory may not be too far since the gelding has veteran jockey C S Jodha for company.

You can place a bet on #6 Fortune Cookie to win this one. To avail the best horse race betting odds, you should head to Betway.
