India will start their tour of Sri Lanka with a three match ODI series and wind it up with a three match T20 series. All three ODI’s will take place at the RPS Stadium in Colombo and will be a D/N affair.
The dates for the ODI tour had to be changed after a number of Sri Lankan players and staff tested positive for COVID-19 and had to be quarantined after returning from England. The Sri Lankan Cricket Board (SLCB) requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to change the tour dates and the BCCI obliged.
The SLCB has also put together a backup Sri Lankan squad who are on standby in case any of the regular players are unable to play the ODI series. The Sri Lankan cricket team is also dealing with internal issues which forced a sudden captaincy change from Kusal Perera to Dasun Shanaka.

The first choice Indian cricket team is currently in England preparing for a 5 match test series. The BCCI has sent across what many will call an India A team to play the three match ODI and T20 series against Sri Lanka.

Even though India is playing an A side, the experience and depth of talent looks a lot stronger than any team Sri Lanka can field.
