This is not the sort of start that fans of the Chennai Super Kings are used to. If there’s one thing you can count on year after year in the IPL, it’s a strong showing in the Group Stages from MS Dhoni’s men, who often go on to actually win the Group Stages. It’s the Play-Off Stages and the actual finals where they tend to have problems. We have given CSK vs SRH T20 prediction at the end, so stay tuned!
It is of course early days yet but just the one win from three matches isn’t a great start. The Sunrisers also have just the one win from three matches, but the big difference is that win came last time out, so they have momentum. Jonny Bairstow once again led the way with the bat, but it was Rashid Khan who made the greatest impact of all, bowling a beautiful four-ever spell that yielded three wickets and cost just 14 runs.
With things so tight in the IPL table, this meeting in Dubai on October 2 could be an important one.
CSK vs SRH T20 Prediction: IPL Satta Tips
Head-to-head records between the two show that Chennai are way ahead in this regard, with nine wins to just three for the Sunrisers. That’s a pretty impressive record when you’re winning three matches for every one match lost against the same opposition. It’s also somewhat surprising because these have been two of the more consistent sides in the IPL over the years so it’s a bit odd that CSK have been so dominant in this fixture.
The bookmakers aren’t reading too much into that head-to-head record, though. They only make Chennai marginal favourites with the best price of 1.86 to be found at 10CRIC. If it’s the Sunrisers you want to go with, it’s 2.0 with Betway.
In normal circumstances, Chennai are famous for having long batting line-ups and a lot of batters can bowl as well. But these aren’t normal circumstances, with Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh absent and Dwayne Bravo not fully fit.
It means Dhoni has fewer options with both bat and ball. Maybe that’s why the odds are closer than expected.
CSK Players To Watch Out For
Faf du Plessis has been CSK’s main man with the bat, scoring 173 runs so far thanks to knocks of 58, 72 and 43.
With the ball, English import S Curran has been excellent, taking five wickets in three games and going at just 7.33 an over. Lungi Ngidi has four wickets in two games but has been expensive, going at 11.75.
It is however time for senior player Shane Watson, Ravinder Jadeja and MS Dhoni himself to step up. None of them has made a real impact so far.
SRH Players To Watch Out For
SRH may have stumbled upon a successful combination when it comes to their overseas players. By playing David Warner, Jonny Bairstow, and Kane Williamson in the Top 4 they have a fearsome top-order and if the last match was anything to go by, their bowlers seem to have found their groove as well.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar was brilliant with two crucial wickets, T Natajaran was economical, and Rashid Khan unplayable on his way to being the man of the match.
CSK vs SRH Weather and Pitch Report
Unsurprisingly given this is played in the desert, no rain is the forecast as usual. Teams have often chosen to field first because of the dew factor but it hasn’t been quite as difficult to grip the ball in the second innings as one might think and the trend has been for the team batting first to win; so it will be interesting to see what the captain who wins the toss does.
Pitch Report
157, 163, 175, 206, 201. Those are the first innings scores so far in Dubai. That’s a first innings average of 180, which is pretty steep. Interestingly, the last two matches saw the team batting first breach 200. What’s really interesting is that two of the five games here have been tied and decided by a Super Over. So, to summarise, there have been two ties and three wins by the side batting first here.
CSK vs SRH T20 Match Prediction
The smartest bet of all might be to side with the team batting first in play. But if you’re after bigger odds, go with Jonny Bairstow to top score for the Sunrisers. He’s managed it in two of his three games so far and 3.5 odds with 10CRIC is a very decent price on him doing it again.
Another Englishman who’s a good bet is Sam Curran. The Super Kings’ leading bowler has been in fine form, always bowls his four overs and is over-priced at 5.0, also with 10CRIC, to be their top bowler in this game.
