On Sunday, June 16th, the Bangalore Race Club in India features eight scheduled races. For our Indian horse race betting preview, we will subsequently take a look at the two main races at the Bangalore Race Club, both featuring the strongest horses and biggest prizes.
What Are Our Indian Horse Race Betting Tips For June 16th?
Here are our Indian horse race betting selection for the two featured races:
1. The Mayor’s Cup
This is the fifth race of the day, scheduled to start at 04:00 PM. It is also one of the longer races with a distance of 1600m, ideal for horses with extra staying power. This is a Class 2 race and all the horses in the running are rated above 60. Furthermore, with a dozen different contenders on the race card, it promises to be quite a spectacle. The total prize money on offer in this race is INR 7,77,600, roughly GBP 8800.
Our Indian horse race betting tips view the following horses as worth a wager:
La Rondine
La Rondine, a four-year-old bay filly sired by the famous Kingda Ka off dam Rahy’s, is one of the best-rated horses in this competition. Trained by Vishal Gaikwad, she has won twice so far, along with a place 2 and 3 out of five starts. One of her wins was in a Class 1 1600m race in May, making her a strong pick for the Mayor’s Cup. Moreover, La Rondine will have the highly experienced Neeraj Rawal in the saddle on Sunday.
Psychic Force
Psychic Force is a stayer. This four-year-old bay colt’s four wins to date come largely from 1600 and 2400m races. Like La Rondine, he too has a Class 1 win to his name, coming late last year in November. He was sired by Multidimensional (IRE) off dam Psychic Light and is trained by Darius Byramji. With a recent record of 8-3-1-2-11, Psychic Force therefore looks primed for a return to winning ways. S Zervan will be his jockey on Sunday.
New Moon
This chestnut gelding is yet to finish a race outside the top four after 10 starts in his career. That haul includes three wins and a recent run of fours and threes (4-4-4-3-4). New Moon is the progeny of Dean’s Kitten (USA) off dam Atmosphere and comes from the stables of trainer Neil Darashah. Jockey Arshad Alam will have his reins on Sunday.
Our Pick – It is a close fight between La Rondine and Psychic Force, with the former getting our nod for the top spot if the odds makers start listing at 5/1. The extremely consistent New Moon is a safe bet as a long shot pick.
2. The Krishnaraja Wadiyar Cup
A prestigious term race for horses aged four years and over, this Cup will take place immediately after the Mayor’s Cup. The scheduled time of the event is 04:30 PM. If all things go according to plan, there will be eight horses at the starting post on Sunday for this event. This is yet another long race at 1600m. The total prize purse for the Wadiyar Cup is INR 11,00,000, or GBP 12,500 approximately.
Here are our favourite Indian horse race betting tips for this race:
Star Superior
This bay rig has a phenomenal record after 12 starts, with seven wins, four second-places, and a solitary third. Furthermore, Star Superior has won at different distances, ranging from 1400 to 2400m, and is a stayer in the truest sense of the word. Sired by Excellent Art (GB) off Ramjet, Star Superior does look quite superior in all respects. Trained by Rajesh Narredu, he will be ridden by Suraj Narredu on Sunday.
Dancing Dragon
An offspring of Phoenix Tower (USA) and dam Romantic Heights, this bay gelding is five years old. Dancing Dragon’s record is also not too far off Star Superior, with five wins and three top-four finishes out of eight starts. Dancing Dragon has scored one win in a 1600m race, and that was a class 1 event. Trained by Neil Darashah, Sunday will see jockey PP Dhebe holding the reins of this Dragon.
Prevalent Force
A half brother to Psychic Force, Prevalent force comes from the loins of Multidimensional. With eight wins out of 15 starts, he is a very experienced winner indeed. He had an amazing run in 2017-18, with six consecutive wins. Further, with a recent run that reads 1-2-1-4-3-2, he looks eager for a return to the top spot. His trainer is Darius Byramji and his jockey on Sunday will be S Zervan.
Our Pick – It is hard to look beyond Star Superior if the book makers begin listing at 5/1. If you want a compelling alternative for the top pick, it has to be Prevalent Force. We like the look of Dancing Dragon and consider him an excellent long shot pick.
